Most brand writing skims. It says the safe thing, in the safe voice, and quietly hopes nobody notices it reads like the seven competitors above it on the search results page.

Going deeper means doing the unglamorous part: interviewing your people, sitting with your competition, tasting the thing before describing it, and staying in the room until the one true sentence shows up. What you should know is that sentence is usually hiding under the brand deck. But it's worth finding.

Hey — I'm Jonathan Giles. I’m based in Atlanta, GA working with brands, teams, and publications worldwide.

I'm a writer and editor — formerly at EBONY, with writing and producing credits across NBC and ABC — and I've spent a career chasing one question: how do people find belonging, especially in the places that don't feel like home?

I don't write, create, or even consult as an observer; I get in it listening, moving, asking the one extra question, and staying until the insight shows up.
